Style Inspiration: Emily Blunt

Hello darlings,

I first fell in love with Emily Blunt when she starred in Devil Wears Prada, although which fashion loving gal didn’t? But honestly it was in The Young Victoria with her compelling portrayal of Queen Victoria that she captured my heart. She is the epitome of class and decorum in general and in the way in which she dresses. I love the fact that everything she wears on the red carpet is incredibly ladylike yet never boringly predictable, mixing it up with an interesting cut, embellishment or stunning colour.

One thing’s for sure: I want to be like Ms Blunt when I grow up.

Darling Buds of Winter

Hello my lovelies!

It is officially autumnal here in England- the rain is back! So for me I love to brighten this, and the up and coming, season up by adding a few floral pieces to my wardrobe. With this in mind I have put together my favourite floral pieces on the high street at the moment…

Wednesday Wardrobe Staple: LWD

In the summer I think that a Little White Dress is an imperative part of a girl’s wardrobe for a fresh, classic look. I fell in love with this gorgeous one, from Karen Millen via ASOS, in particular because it’s so simple yet stunning…

Moreover I think that it is so wonderfully versatile for example, for a day look, wear it with sandals, a floppy hat, and a brightly coloured bag; whereas, for an evening look, wear it with heels, chunky gold jewellery and a clutch.

The Perfect Match

Here in England there is definitely an air of excitement all about the beautiful new Prince George of Cambridge! I have watched so much rolling news the past two days it’s ridiculous! So to occupy my time, whilst we had such little news from inside the hospital, I spent my time looking on Matches. Bad idea as I was left with quite the wishlist…

This dress for starters is not my usual look but I really like the colour and the contrast of the stripes on the sides is lovely. So I thought that I’d push the boat out, just a touch, and give it a go.

I have to admit since getting Netflix I have been watching a lot of Gossip Girl again which has revitalised my love for Blair. Consequently when I saw this coat I couldn’t help but think of her and fall, at the same time, a little in love with it. Although with what weather this is suitable for I do not know but here in England we have some very peculiar weather so you never know!

I think that this top is so wonderful because when teamed with just a black pencil skirt and pointed black heels it instantly creates a terribly classy look!

I think that this skirt is beautiful for the summer especially with a chiffon t-shirt, heels and clutch for a summer wedding.

Classic, classy and terribly chic; they are simply beautiful!

Just a charming pair of heels– I was never going to be able to resist!

Normally when buying sunglasses I’ll stick to tortoise shell but these are so lovely that they may have tempted me into venturing into the world of a coloured frame.

This one reminded me of the swimsuit Amanda Seyfried wore in the film Mamma Mia, so along with the fact that it really is a stunningly designed swimsuit, it really puts a smile on my face.

I have never really ventured into the world of coloured trousers but with the classic shape, beautiful cut and amazing colour of these what could go wrong?

I’ve always been a cardigan girl, almost always picking one over a jumper. This one looked the perfect mixture of cosy and fashionable- pretty and practical!

I may have a plethora of blazers but a white little number is sorely missing from my collection; this one is super stylish and will look absolutley fabulous with a fitted dress and heels or a camisole, pair of shorts and some ballet flats for two different summer evening looks.

I wear very little jewellery, especially at the moment, but I do love a pair of statement earrings and well they don’t get much better than these– they’re quite the pair!

Lace, floral, perfect with a pair of nude heels = one perfectly ladylike dress

I thought that this top would look very sweet with jeans and ballet flats during the day or with a high waisted skirt and heels for an evening look.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have a soft spot for blue lace so combined with the beautiful shape of this skirt I couldn’t help but fall just a little bit in love.

I adore this dress even if the fabric is a little ‘grandma’s curtains’ – I do love a bit of granny chic!

Shoe of the Week

Ever since my H&M wishlist post I have been trying to find the perfect pair of shoes for this beautiful dress

I finally found this pretty pair of heels by Diane Von Furstenburg via Matches

I think that they are just right because the colour picks out the detail on the shoulders of the dress and the straps mimic the shape of the skirt- in my opinion they really do match perfectly!

Hello my lovelies!

With the racing season in full swing I thought that I would write a quick post with three looks, that I put together, that I think are perfect for those glamorous afternoons at the races…

I fell in love with the colour of this dress initially and when I came across the jacket it seemed like the perfect pair to me.

Look 2:
Well this dress was just too pretty to leave behind. I decided to match it with complimentary colours to really make the dress shine.

Dress (Ted Baker), Bracelet (Accessorize), Heels (Miss KG via ASOS), Clutch (ASOS)

Look 3:
This look is a touch simpler than the others but you can never go wrong with a little black dress, especially when paired with these beautiful electric blue heels!

ASOS Wish List

Yesterday I spent my evening ‘virtually window shopping’ on the wonderful ASOS. My love for ASOS has really grown over the past year especially as they have free delivery! Here is my condensed (yep condensed) wish list..

Top £36.00
Normally I’m not an orange kind of girl but I fell in love with the flute sleeves and tie waist of this top and thought that I’d venture out into the world of colour.

Dress £22.00
I think that this a really sweet dress. It reminds me of a ballet costume and well I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina!

Top £25.00
The colour of this top is stunning! It puts one big smile on my face.

Heels £28.00
I love heels. I love lace. It’s the perfect combination.

Dress £175.00
I have been dreaming about this dress- how I would style it, where I would wear it, how beautiful it would look just hanging in my wardrobe! It’s sensational!

Dress £180.00
I love how classy yet how interesting this dress is. It’s so versatile- you can wear it day or night.

Skirt £45.00
The colour and the shape of this skirt makes it look very expensive and well I won’t tell if you don’t.

Dress £42.00
I like this dress. I like the style, the print and the fact that it could be worn for many different occasions.

Dress £38.00
I think that this dress looks vintage and très Kate Middleton so how could I resist?

Trousers £22.00
I feel in love with the colour of these trousers and think that they’re perfect for this winter-spring period. They’re warm but are such a beautifully vivid colour.

Trousers £28.00
Practical and chic- can a girl ask for anymore?

Trainers £60.00
Before becoming ill I never wore trainers in fact I did everything I could to avoid them. But now they are one of my wardrobe staples and I love these for spring; the floral print is a great way to add that touch of spring to an outfit.

Shorts £22.00
Apart from on holiday I rarely wear shorts so I thought that I’d take a punt and opted for this classy little black pair.

Wedges £45.00
I fell for these as soon as I saw them. They’re absolutley stunning.

Blouse £30.00
Simply a pretty blouse, sweet colour, light chiffon and perfect for spring.

What’s on your wish list at the moment?

The best aftershow party there’s ever been!

I’m really sad that today is the last day of the Olympics. But I can’t wait for the closing ceremony tonight (I’ve been singing the Spice Girls for about three days now in excitement). It’s been dubbed to be the best aftershow party there has ever been. In that spirit I thought that for the best aftershow party, everyone needs the best party dress- so here are my picks of the best dresses on the high-street at the moment:

Elise Ryan (via ASOS) £55.00

I thought that this was a dress that anyone could wear and personalise really easily. For example it could be worn with nude shoes and a statement necklace or with ballet flats and a simple clutch depending on how you’re feeling.

Zara £69.99

I chose this dress because it could be teamed with a lot of different colours so it can be worn over and over but look different every time.

Oasis £65.00

I very rarely like animal print but on this dress, mixed in with the lace print, I think it is gorgeous.

M&S £79.00

This dress is great for day-to-night wear because it could be worn just with black courts during the day and then maybe with silver accessories in the evening.

H&M £34.99

I like this dress because it doesn’t need anything added to it thanks to the collar and heavy pleating- perfect one step wonder.

Red Hot Right Now

True red is the colour of A/W 2012 with examples on the Lavin and Valentino catwalks and however much I would love to able to afford such designer pieces it’s high-street for me. Luckily I’ve found the perfect true red dress at ASOS:

ASOS £45

I really love this dress because, even though it’s slightly pricey, it could be worn in so many ways. I’d let it speak for itself and just wear it with plain sandals or with a statement necklace and maybe a sparkly shoe (which I can never resist). Either way it’s a winner for me.
